Chief Test Pilot
British Army, Air Corps Major (Ret) Andy Ozanne, is the Chief Test Pilot for Skyworks Aeronautics Corp.
Andy’s aviation career covers a broad spectrum as both a military and commercial pilot operating across the globe. His military career saw him transition from the UK armoured tank force to the British Army Air Corps, embarking on a 16-year career in military aviation.
Andy specialised in support of UK special forces operations, as well as the air mobility of UK forces and saw active service in Northern Ireland and Afghanistan.
He was selected to attend the Test Pilots Course run by the world-renowned Empire Test Pilots School, based at RAF Boscombe Down after which he was fortunate to serve as a Test Pilot during an intense period of procurement of rotary wing capabilities. He was involved in the development of a wide variety of Western and Eastern European platforms of which highlights included extensive trials work on the U.K. Apache attack helicopter and the Russian Mi17 transport helicopter.
Having left the military for commercial fixed wing work, he flew business jets, provided air warfare training, and then flew the 737 and 787 Dreamliner on medium and long-haul commercial routes. He also undertook roles in aviation management and has operated/or had type ratings on more than 34 rotary and fixed wing platforms.
His aspiration to test and fly the new age of gyronautic designs came with an introduction to Skyworks Aeronautics, who he believes had the vision to develop the potential of this outstanding technology. His impressive background in Flight Test and Evaluation brings tremendous value to the Skyworks team.
Andy’s extensive aviation experience, technical expertise, leadership, and operational knowledge has resulted in his being selected to act as an active trustee of a charity supporting aviation operations in anti-poaching in Africa.
